South Africa and the United States will have more than a series result at stake when they meet in Pretoria this weekend, with both teams in contention for significant movements in the latest World Rugby Women’s Rankings.

A victory for the Springbok Women would secure a 2-0 series win over the Women’s Eagles and see South Africa climb to a new highest-ever ranking of ninth, moving above the United States.

If South Africa wins by more than 15 points, they will rise even further to seventh, overtaking both Australia and Scotland in the standings.

The United States, meanwhile, can reclaim eighth place with a victory after dropping behind Australia following last weekend’s 34-21 defeat. A winning margin of more than 15 points would also see the Women’s Eagles leapfrog Scotland in the rankings.

Should the United States lose, the team will fall to 10th place, equalling its lowest-ever world ranking, a position it last held before the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup.
