A house fire in Laucala Beach has resulted in the tragic loss of a woman and a child, with authorities now investigating the cause of the incident.
Police and National Fire Authority officers responded to reports of the fire on the morning of 11 July 2026. Upon arrival, a 48-year-old woman and a 10-year-old boy were found to have been trapped inside the home.
Their bodies were later recovered by officers from the Crime Scene Investigation Unit.
A joint investigation involving the Fiji Police Force and the National Fire Authority is currently underway to determine the circumstances that led to the fire.
