Construction work is continuing on the Navilawa–Yaloku Access Road in the interior of Ba, with the project expected to improve connectivity and create new opportunities for communities in the area.
The $200,000 project is being funded by the Coalition Government through the Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management under its Rural Outer Island (ROI) Development Programme.
The development involves the construction of a 9.1-kilometre farm access road linking communities between Nadi and Ba.
Once finished, the new road is expected to make it easier for farmers to transport their produce to markets, lower transport costs, and provide safer and more reliable access for residents.
The upgraded route will also cut travel time between Sabeto, Nadi and Ba from around two hours to about 40 minutes, improving access to essential services while supporting economic growth in the surrounding communities.
