The High Court has sentenced Imran Khan, also known as “King Khan”, to one year imprisonment for breaching a High Court restraining order.
Khan was convicted of one count of contravening a restraining order under the Proceeds of Crime Act after admitting that he transferred a vehicle, which was subject to a High Court restraining order, to his brother.
Judge, Justice Thushara Rajasinghe delivered his judgement this morning.
Justice Rajasinghe told Khan that in committing this offence, he breached the laws of Fiji and shown no respect for the rule of law.
The restraining order was intended to preserve the property that was the subject of proceedings commenced by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, and the Judge adds that Khan’s actions adversely interfered with that process.
The sentence is to be served concurrently with the sentence Khan is already serving.
Both parties have 30 days to appeal.
