Many customers have raised concerns over Energy Fiji Limited’s new electricity reconnection policy.
Concerned customers told Fiji One News they had been informed that electricity would only be reconnected after 24 working hours, which they say is equivalent to up to three working days, leaving them without power while waiting for service to be restored.
The issue was raised with the Minister for Public Works, Meteorological Services and Transport, Ro Filipe Tuisawau, who confirmed that affected customers had brought their concerns directly to him.
The Minister says he has raised the matter with the Minister for Finance and EFL management, as the company reviews concerns surrounding its disconnection and reconnection policies.
“Yes, some customers have complained directly.
I have raised that directly with the Minister of Finance and also with the EFL management CEO.
So, they are looking into that. In terms of the policies around it, I have raised it again with the Minister of Finance. The board reports to him” Ro Filipe highlighted.
