A 44-year-old man is expected to appear at the Suva Magistrates Court today after being charged in connection with the alleged possession of methamphetamine, attempted bribery and serious assault.
The man was stopped and searched by police officers conducting patrols in Delainavesi on Wednesday, August 19.
During the search, officers allegedly found a zip-lock plastic bag containing white crystals, which later tested positive for methamphetamine.
Police allege that the accused then offered an arresting officer $150 in an attempt to secure his release.
He allegedly fled the scene but was later apprehended by two police officers.
The accused faces one count each of unlawful possession of illicit drugs, attempted bribery and serious assault.
He is due to appear before the Suva Magistrates Court today, Friday, August 21.
