Suva is set to gain another landmark, following the groundbreaking ceremony today for the Assemblies of God Church’s new seven-storey headquarters at Robertson Road. The project is valued at $17.9 million.

Speaking at the ceremony, AOG General Superintendent Reverend Moses Cakau said the new building will serve the church and its people, as well as ordained ministers, and will become the organisation’s national headquarters.

Reverend Cakau says the vision for the project was initially conceived by the former Senior Superintendent together with the late Principal Engineer and designer, Vijay Krishna.

He explained that what began as a plan for a two-storey building has now expanded into a seven-storey development to meet the growing needs of the church.

AOG General Secretary Reverend Filikesa Koroivueta said the new headquarters will serve as a corporate centre, providing vision, leadership and strategic direction towards fulfilling the mission and vision of the church.

He said finalising the project took time, particularly in identifying the right people with the expertise to undertake the construction and engineering work.

The seven-storey headquarters is expected to become a significant addition to Suva’s cityscape while providing the AOG with a central facility to support its growing operations and ministry work.
