Rev. Dr. Jolami Lasawa has been elected President-Elect of the Methodist Church in Fiji following the Church’s 2026 Annual Conference in Suva.

He is expected to take over as President in 2027, succeeding the current President, Rev. Dr. Semisi Turagavou.

In his first address after the election, Rev. Dr. Lasawa expressed gratitude for the confidence placed in him and acknowledged the responsibility that comes with leading the Church.

He said he was humbled by the opportunity and ready to take on the leadership role with God’s guidance.

Rev. Dr. Lasawa also said his family was prepared to support him as he takes on the responsibility of serving the Methodist Church.

His election comes as the Church continues its focus on spiritual renewal, discipleship and community service across Fiji and beyond.

The Methodist Church has congratulated Rev. Dr. Lasawa and his family, while calling on members and the wider Christian community to pray for him as he prepares to assume the presidency in 2027.
