A bench warrant issued this morning for Isaia Ledua has been cancelled after he appeared before the Suva High Court this afternoon.

Ledua is accused of breaking into the Republic of Fiji Military Forces armoury at Queen Elizabeth Barracks in April this year.

He faces one count each of aggravated burglary and damaging property.

Ledua told Judge Justice Dane Tuiqereqere he was stuck in traffic and was instructed by his lawyer, Jerry Dinati, to wait for him.

Justice Tuiqereqere reminded Ledua that he is answerable to the court and not his lawyer.

The judge adds that traffic is a daily issue and Ledua should plan accordingly to ensure he attends court on time.

It is alleged that between April 8 and 9, Ledua attempted to break into the RFMF Ammunition Magazine building in Nabua and damaged the door lock keypad.

The judge has directed Dinati and the State Prosecutor to meet and discuss pre-trial issues and voir dire matters before the next court date.

The case has been adjourned to the 10th of September.
