Fourteen-year-old Torika Boseiwaqa is following a familiar path in her family after being selected for the Fiji Mini Kulas squad for the OFC U-16 Women’s Championship in the Solomon Islands.

The Year Nine student of Ba Sangam College is the youngest of five siblings and has grown up watching her elder sister, Fiji Kulas representative Sereana Naweni, rise through the national age-group teams.

Naweni captained Fiji at the 2025 OFC U-19 Women’s Championship and later scored for the senior Kulas against Tonga at the 2025 OFC Women’s Nations Cup.

Boseiwaqa says her sister has been a major source of encouragement as she develops her own football career.

She says she is proud to follow Naweni’s example and hopes to make her sister and family proud in her first international tournament.

Her selection gives the 14-year-old an opportunity to gain international experience against some of the region’s top young players, while beginning her own pathway towards the senior national team.

The Mini Kulas will open their campaign against the Cook Islands on September 6, before facing New Zealand on September 9 and hosts Solomon Islands on September 12.

The top two teams in the tournament will secure qualification for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2027.
