His music career was born in the village, sharpened through competition and is now being nurtured on a bigger platform with VT1S.

For Ratu Emosi Lagilagi, better known by his stage name Tulagi, singing was never part of his dreams until he was in his 20s and it was while he was in his village that he came across an advertisement for the Vocal Battle, an opportunity that would eventually change the course of his life.

With little expectation beyond simply taking part, Tulagi entered the Vocal Battle.

What began as an opportunity to participate soon became the turning point in his musical journey when he emerged as the competition’s winner.

The Vocal Battle became the place where Tulagi’s natural talent was sharpened, giving him the confidence and experience to take his passion for singing more seriously.

His journey later led him to VT1S, where his talent continues to be developed and his career given a platform to grow.

Tulagi said joining Viti1s has allowed him to see his passion come to life while giving him the confidence to believe in himself and his music.

He remained grateful to the VT1S team for the support and guidance they have provided, saying their encouragement has helped him grow not only as a singer but also in confidence as an artist.

Meanwhile, VT1S Manager Tiko Korocowiri said the organisation’s focus is on moulding young artists and providing them with opportunities to develop and showcase their talents.

He emphasized that VT1S aims to give emerging artists the platform, guidance and exposure needed to turn their talents into sustainable careers.

For Tulagi, the journey is a reminder that sometimes a career can begin in the most unexpected place. From discovering his passion in his village, to sharpening his voice at the Vocal Battle and now building his career with VT1S, his musical journey continues to take shape.
