The Lautoka City Council has launched a free environmental clean-up campaign targeting residents of the Waiyavi and Simla Wards.

The campaign began this week and will continue until September 9, 2026, giving residents an opportunity to clear unwanted waste from their properties.

Residents are being asked to clean their compounds and place rubbish outside their homes in an accessible location for collection.

Items that can be put out include tree branches, grass, old tyres, empty containers, bottles and other backyard waste.

The council says collection teams will pass through each street only once. Residents are therefore advised to place their waste out three to five days before the scheduled collection date or before the collection truck reaches their area.

Waste should be positioned neatly and must not obstruct fire hydrants, water valves, water meters, sewerage chambers, electrical or telephone boxes, driveways or other access ways.

The council is urging residents to cooperate with collection teams to ensure the clean-up campaign runs smoothly.
