World Rugby has announced Woolworths as the Official Supermarket Supporter of the Men’s Rugby World Cup 2027 and Women’s Rugby World Cup 2029, with both tournaments set to take place in Australia.
The partnership will see the supermarket group support fan experiences and community celebrations across Australia and New Zealand as anticipation builds for the two major international rugby events.
With more than 1,000 stores in Australia and over 180 in New Zealand, Woolworths will help fans prepare for match days through food, snacks and community gatherings celebrating the competing nations.
World Rugby Chief Revenue Officer Michel Poussau said the partnership would help bring communities together and create memorable experiences beyond the action on the field.
He said Woolworths’ established presence across Australia and New Zealand made it a valuable partner in connecting local communities with the global rugby audience.
Woolworths Chief Marketing Officer Sean Barrett said the partnership would bring together the region’s passion for sport and fresh food, giving fans opportunities to celebrate through local produce and shared match-day experiences.
The agreement will also provide brands with opportunities to engage rugby audiences through Woolworths’ Cartology retail media network, which operates across its retail platforms.
The announcement comes as preparations intensify for the Men’s Rugby World Cup 2027, which will feature 24 nations competing over six weeks across seven host cities in Australia.
With the tournament approaching, fans can purchase tickets through the official Rugby World Cup ticketing website. Hospitality and travel packages covering matches throughout the tournament are also available through Rugby World Cup Experiences.
The partnership is expected to strengthen the connection between rugby, local communities and supporters as Australia prepares to host two of the sport’s biggest international tournaments.
