Fijian composers, songwriters and artists will soon have access to a new income stream, thanks to a partnership between the Fiji Performing Rights Association and Streamplay Pacific.

Under the landmark collaboration, Fijian artists and composers will soon have a platform to showcase their musical works on mJams, the streaming platform hosted by Streamplay Pacific.

In a joint press statement, FIPRA and Streamplay Pacific said mJams has a vast collection of over 2,500 Pacific artists, boasting more than 20,000 songs and over 400 music videos on its streaming service.

The catalogue is a testament to Streamplay Pacific’s dedication to preserving and promoting Pacific content and its rich cultural narratives.

By partnering with FIPRA, mJams is reinforcing its commitment to expanding its footprint across the Pacific, ensuring that the unique sounds and stories of Fijian artists are heard and enjoyed across the world.

FIPRA said the partnership would also ensure Fijian composers receive royalties for their musical works.

Todd Emanuelli, CEO of Streamplay Pacific said they were thrilled to partner with FIPRA to empower Fiji artists and provide them with a platform to share their music with the world.

“This collaboration underscores our commitment to supporting all Pacific Island artists and ensuring they each receive fair compensation for their work,” he said.

FIPRA chairman Eremasi Tamanisau said the collaboration with Streamplay would represent a significant opportunity for Fijian composers, songwriters and artists to showcase their talent on a global scale and provide an equitably remunerated new income stream.

“We are confident that this partnership will pave the way for greater recognition and opportunities for Fiji artists in the music industry,” he said.

The partnership deal will be fomalised tomorrow at the FIPRA office in Suva.
