The Fiji National University (FNU) has announced the postponement of the Quarter 1, 2024 exams to the following week, citing adverse weather conditions that necessitated the closure of campuses, affecting students’ academic preparations and classes the previous week.

Recognizing the disruption caused by the extreme weather, the university has opted to reschedule the exams to afford students ample time to adequately prepare.

Acting Pro-Vice-Chancellor of FNU, Dr Jimaima Lako, emphasized the institution’s commitment to ensuring students are well-equipped for their exams, understanding that many may have been adversely affected by the campus closures.

“We want to ensure that our students prepare thoroughly for their exams. Hence, we decided to shift the exam to a week later. This would allow the students to prepare themselves and give their best in their exams,” Dr Lako said.

“This decision to defer exams underscores our commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment. By providing all students with adequate time to prepare after the recent campus closures, we ensure equitable opportunities for success.”

FNU reaffirmed its dedication to educational excellence, aimed at producing work-ready graduates across undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Its programs are designed to impart essential skills, knowledge, competencies, and adaptability necessary for success in today’s competitive job market.

The new dates for the Quarter 1, 2024 exams have been set for April 8th to April 11th, 2024.

“We wish our students the very best in their preparations, and for the exams, they will sit on them as this will determine the outcome of their hard work and dedication towards their studies,” Dr Lako expressed.

“Due to the ongoing adverse weather conditions, the university strongly encourages all students to prioritize their health and well-being. Also, take the necessary precautions to stay warm and dry. Remember, your health is paramount to your academic success.”
