The Government of Japan and Fiji celebrates a 45-year friendship in fisheries, with Japan granting $17.5 million to Fiji’s Fisheries Sector.
Fisheries Minister, Kalaveti Ravu thanked the Japanese Government for their recent donation, receiving equipment worth $1.5 million. He stressed aquaculture’s importance in sustainability and development.
Collaboration via Japanese Official Development Assistance and Japanese International Cooperation System targets sustainable development.
Japanese Ambassador, Michii Rokoichiro highlighted Japan’s contributions, including plans for a research vessel and ice plants. Japan pledged an additional FJ$10 million for a new Fishery Research Vessel and an ice machine.
Both nations assured their commitment to cooperation, emphasizing food security and resource enhancement.
