Former Fiji Men’s 7s coach Ben Gollings is pursuing legal action against the Fiji Rugby Union, for what he claims to be an unlawful termination.

Gollings, who commenced his role as Fiji 7s coach in December 2021 under a three-year contract, was terminated by the FRU earlier this month.

Despite his dismissal, Gollings recently bade farewell to the Fiji 7s players, expressing his well-wishes for their future endeavors.

According to Gollings, the matter has been escalated to his legal representatives.

Meanwhile, the FRU released a press statement earlier this month citing Gollings’ termination, as a result of his alleged failure to meet the expected performance standards.

Peter Mazey, the FRU’s Trust Board Chairman stated that Gollings had received verbal and written warnings, before ultimately being terminated.

Under Gollings’ leadership, the Fiji men’s 7s team struggled to secure victories in the HSBC 7s Series, enduring a winless streak spanning 19 tournaments.

This lack of success contributed to the FRU’s decision, to part ways with Gollings.
