Energy Fiji Limited (EFL) wishes to advise its valued customers in the Western Division of Viti Levu that repair, maintenance & upgrading works will be carried out on Sunday 21st August 2022 on the EFL infrastructure as follows:

i.     132kV/33kV Vuda Substation – Wiring, testing and commissioning of a new 132kV/33kV transformer.

ii.     132kV Transmission Line Towers from Nadarivatu Switchyard to the Vuda Substation – carry out line cutover works on new steel lattice transmission tower at Balevuto in Ba.

iii.     New 33kV Transmission line from Vuda to Naikabula – Stringing of Conductor on structures for the new 33kV transmission line, which necessitates a planned outage on the 33kV Vuda to Rarawai transmission line that will affect power supply to Ba, Tavua, Nadarivatu all the way to Navesau in Rakiraki apart from Rakiraki Central Business District (CBD).

These works need to be executed to ensure reliability and security of power supply to the Western Division of Viti Levu.

To enable EFL to undertake the above works, EFL will de-energise the 132kV transmission line that transmits power from the Nadarivatu Switchyard to the Vuda Substation from 4:00am to 7:00pm on Sunday 21st August, 2022 to allow our teams to carry out the necessary works.

During this period, EFL will supply electricity from its Diesel Power Stations at Vuda, Qeleloa, Nadi, Sigatoka and Rakiraki to meet the electricity demand of our valued customers in the Western Division from Matanipusi Hill in Serua to Raviravi in Ba and Rakiraki CBD.

Due to the above works in the Western Division, power supply to our valued customers in the following districts will be affected by this planned repair, maintenance and upgrade exercise.

Part of Lautoka (Tomuka, Tavakubu, Part of Vuda & Part of Wairabetia), Tavarau, Ba to Tavua, Whole of Tavua & Nadarivatu, Tavua to Navesau in Rakiraki apart from Rakiraki CBD.

Power supply to our remaining valued customers in the Western Division of Viti Levu should not be affected unless there is a failure of any of our diesel generation sets, or in the event of any unrelated fault on the transmission and distribution network in the Western Division. EFL will do its utmost to ensure that any unplanned power interruptions are kept to a minimum.

Maintenance works are planned to be carried out on a Sunday due to the low electricity demand on this day, which will result in reduced disruption to our valued customers in the Western Division of Viti Levu.

In the event the weather conditions are unfavorable, then this exercise will be postponed and our valued customers will be informed accordingly.
