The minimum wage rate has been one of the center of discussion at the Fiji Trade Union Congress council meeting this morning.
FTUC Secretary, Felix Anthony says, the minimum wage rate should be raised to $7, to meet the current cost of living.
“We also understand that this cannot happen over night, but we’re working with authorities to address this”, he said.
He adds, many workers are currently struggling with the living wage in Fiji.
Meanwhile, while addressing the Union Members, Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations, Agni Deo-Singh says the labour law will be reviewed in the next parliament sitting.
“This will be presented through cabinet. It is a process that takes time, and we will certainly look into this”, he said.
