
The new partnership forged between the Adventist Development and Relief Agency Fiji and the Latter-Day Saint Charities have seen the launch of a new development project, aimed at improving and strengthening Food and Nutrition Security, to targeted local farming communities around Viti Levu.
Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Agriculture, Dr Vinesh Kumar said more than 500 farming households in the province of Rewa, Nadi and Nadroga have been identified and will benefit from the project.
“The main objective of improving resilience and adaptive capacities of vulnerable communities and farming households is to increase food and nutrition security and economic independence,” Kumar said.
Meanwhile, ADRA Fiji Country Director Iliapi Tuwai said livelihood was one of the core strength of ADRA Fiji in empowering Fijian rural communities basic knowledge and practices on how to better manage livelihood and the agriculture adaptation to climate change.
Speaking on behalf of the Latter-Day Saint Charities, President of the Nausori Stake, Lote Qoroya said they were grateful for the new initiative.
The project will end in December.
