58 women from across Fiji are in Suva for the 2nd “Women’s Mock Parliament” 2024.
The three-day event brings together aspiring women leaders from around the country, to engage in legislative training and discussions.
Deputy Speaker of Parliament and Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs Lenora Qereqeretabua said the event serves as a vital platform to encourage women, to enter the highest decision-making institution in the country.
“It will also help to break down barriers and provides you with the skills and the knowledge that you need to make a meaningful impact in politics and governance.”
These women from various communities and backgrounds, will partake in intensive sessions designed to enhance their understanding of parliamentary processes, and strengthen their leadership skills.
“This three-day event will be will provide a unique opportunity to you to learn more about the Fijian parliament, its key functions and procedures, the important role of parliamentary committees,” she said.
The programme is supported by the UNDP Fiji Parliament Support Project which is funded by the governments of Australia, Japan and New Zealand.
