Attorney-General and Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, was part of the launch of the Fijian Music mobile app at the Holiday Inn last night (11/05/22).

The App includes music such as local Gospel songs, sigidrigi, popular itaukei songs, qawali, bhajan, kirtan and lokgeet.

Through the support of various organisations, Procera Music has created an app that enables access to all types of music from various Fijian artists.

The A-G acknowledged the ingenuity of Procera and its partners. He also congratulated Fijian IT specialists who developed the app, which will be available internationally.

The A-G said that the tens of thousands of Fijians of the Fijian diaspora will now be able to easily access Fijian music. It will also give the impetus to Fijian artists to continue to produce songs as they will now be able to collect revenue for their talent.

Procera Music Managing Director, Mohammed Akim, highlighted that the Fijian Music App can be downloaded on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store and locals can pay for a monthly subscription of $7.99 through M-PAiSA. With this app available, he added that music artists will also benefit financially, and it will curb issues of piracy.
