The Minister for Multi-Ethnic Affairs and Sugar Industry, Charan Jeath Singh, today (20/08/25) launched the Sugar Cane Growers Council (SCGC) newsletter, Cane Grower, in a bid to strengthen communication and engagement with sugarcane farmers across Fiji.
Speaking at the launch in Rakiraki, Singh said the newsletter will serve as a vital platform to keep farmers informed, connected, and empowered.
“It gives me great pleasure to reach out to you through the Sugar Cane Growers Council’s newsletter, Cane Grower a platform dedicated to keeping you informed, connected, and empowered,” he said.
“Through this platform, you will receive important updates on programs, initiatives, and government support measures tailored for you. We will also showcase success stories from the field stories of innovation, perseverance, and growth,” Singh explained.
He highlighted that the sugar industry rests on the hard work, resilience, and dedication of cane farmers, and that the newsletter will serve as a bridge between farmers, industry stakeholders, and government.
“We want it to become a tool for dialogue, knowledge-sharing, and inspiration. The SCGC remains committed to amplifying farmers’ voices, strengthening communication, and bringing services closer to your households. Together, we will focus on improving productivity, modernizing farming practices, and safeguarding the long-term sustainability of our sugar industry,” he said.
Singh congratulated the Sugar Cane Growers Council on this initiative and encouraged all farmers to make full use of the opportunities and information shared through the publication.
Farmers will also be able to access the newsletter through Ministry’s FB Page, website and the SCGC Facebook page
