The independent investigation into the death of Jone Vakarisi is nearing completion, according to Government.
In a statement, Government said investigations into the death of Sakiasi Radravu are continuing and must be allowed to proceed thoroughly, independently and without prejudice.
The statement comes amid public concern over recent incidents involving members of the Fiji Police Force and the Republic of Fiji Military Forces.
Government reaffirmed that police and military personnel who act unlawfully will be held accountable under the law, regardless of rank or position.
It also stressed its commitment to human rights, the rule of law and the principle that no one is above the law.
Government said allegations of corruption, abuse of power and misconduct involving police officers are treated seriously and acted upon where there is credible evidence.
However, it noted that due process must be respected and that officers cannot be dismissed arbitrarily without lawful disciplinary procedures and the right to be heard.
The Government said it remains committed to strong institutions, public trust and accountability as investigations continue.
