Fijians can expect some relief in household expenses, as the Fiji Competition and Consumer Commission has announced lower fuel and LPG prices for July 2026 following a decline in international fuel prices.

The new prices take effect from Wednesday, 1 July 2026, with diesel recording the biggest reduction of between $1.19 and $1.25 per litre across the country.

the price of motor spirit will decrease by between 49 and 52 cents per litre, while kerosene prices will fall by about 42 cents per litre in most areas. LPG prices will also drop, helping to reduce cooking costs for households.

FCCC Chief Executive Officer Senikavika Jiuta said the commission has been closely monitoring global developments and tensions in the Middle East to ensure consumers benefit from lower international prices while maintaining confidence in Fiji’s fuel supply.

Jiuta says they know that lower fuel costs can make a real difference to household budgets and operating costs, as consumers may now begin to benefit from improving international market conditions.

She says these reductions reflect improving global market conditions following progress in ceasefire negotiations and peace discussions in the Middle East, which have eased pressure on international fuel prices after months of volatility.

Although recent developments are encouraging, FCCC cautions that global fuel markets remain vulnerable to geopolitical events and prices may continue to fluctuate as the global energy market recovers.

Under the fuel pricing methodology, FCCC conducts monthly assessments of the Means of Platts Singapore (MOPS) benchmark, international freight costs and foreign exchange movements to ensure domestic fuel prices accurately reflect international price movements while maintaining a reliable, sustainable and affordable fuel supply across Fiji.
