The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) has received a timely boost to its vehicle maintenance capabilities, with the formal handover of essential wheel assemblies for its Protected Mobility Vehicles (PMVs) by the Australian Defence Force (ADF).
The donation was received today at the Joint Logistics Command Warehouse by RFMF Director of Finance, Logistics, and Acquisition (DFLA), Captain (Navy) Lepani Vaniqi, from the Australian Defence Force Advisor to Fiji, Colonel Henry Stimson.
This initiative reinforces Australia’s ongoing commitment to support the operational readiness and sustainability of the RFMF fleet. The components are part of a broader effort under the Military Logistics Support Arrangement (MLSA), aimed at ensuring the long-term serviceability of the Bushmaster vehicles deployed in both peacekeeping missions and local military training.
The commitment to deliver spare parts was first made by the Chief of the Australian Defence Force, Admiral David Johnston, during the handover of Bushmaster vehicles last year. Today’s handover marks progress in fulfilling that pledge, ensuring that local maintenance efforts are supported through a steady supply of parts and technical assistance.
The Bushmasters remain a vital component of Fiji’s defence force, used both in international missions and domestic operations.
The handover underscores the strong and evolving defence partnership between Fiji and Australia, which is anchored in mutual respect, regional security collaboration, and the values of the Vuvale Partnership.
