In Fiji:
Barbara Malimali has been appointed the new Commissioner of the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption.
FICAC has confirmed that her appointment is through the Judicial Services Commission and signed off by the President.
Pursuant to section 5(1) of the FICAC Act 2007 the Commissioner is appointed by the President on the recommendation of the Judicial Services Commission, following consultation by the Judicial Services Commission with the Attorney-General.
Meanwhile, FICAC has also confirmed that they conducted a raid at the Election Commission yesterday, where documents related to the investigation of the Chairperson, Barbara Malimali were seized.
Malimali is facing allegations of abuse of office.
