Fiji and Qatar strengthen bilateral ties in landmark meeting

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has officially welcomed the Non-Resident Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Fiji, Mr. Ali Saad Mohamed Habab Al-Hajri, in a significant meeting that underscored the growing strategic partnership between the two nations.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Rabuka acknowledged the leadership of His Highness Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, for his ongoing efforts to promote cooperation and mutual understanding between Fiji and Qatar.

He emphasized the strong diplomatic ties that have been in place since 2010, highlighting new opportunities for collaboration across various sectors.

On the international stage, the Prime Minister reiterated Fiji’s commitment to peacekeeping in the Middle East, referencing Fiji’s participation in key missions, including the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), the Multinational Force and Observers (MFO), and the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF).

Furthermore, Prime Minister Rabuka commended Qatar for its role in advocating for developing nations in global forums and reaffirmed Fiji’s dedication to deepening bilateral relations.

The Non-Resident Ambassador expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and shared his eagerness to continue strengthening the ties between the two countries.
