The Republic of Fiji Navy has unveiled its Strategic Plan 2035, The Headmark, setting out a long-term vision to strengthen the nation’s maritime capability over the next decade.
The strategy was officially launched today by the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff, Brigadier General S. Motufaga.
Developed under the leadership of Fiji Navy Chief of Staff Captain Ledua Yaco, with contributions from senior naval officers and support from senior leaders of the Royal Australian Navy, the plan establishes a roadmap to ensure the Navy remains capable, adaptable and fit for future maritime demands.
Aligned with Fiji’s national security and development priorities, The Headmark recognises the country’s close connection to the ocean and outlines a vision for a modern, professional and responsive maritime force that safeguards Fiji’s waters while strengthening regional partnerships across the Pacific.
The strategy focuses on four key priorities: Maritime Security and Sovereignty, Our People, Enablers, and Partnerships.
It also outlines future investment in maritime surveillance, patrol and response capabilities, hydrography, infrastructure, logistics, communications, training, maintenance and emerging maritime technologies.
During the launch, Brigadier General Motufaga commended Navy personnel for their dedication and encouraged them to maintain high standards, strengthen operational readiness and continue evolving to address Fiji’s growing maritime responsibilities.
Described as more than a strategic document, The Headmark represents the Navy’s commitment to accountability, continuous improvement and future readiness.
It also acknowledges the contributions of past Fiji Navy and RFMF leaders whose leadership laid the foundation for today’s force.
Guided by the values of Excellence, Honour, Commitment, Courage and Family, the Republic of Fiji Navy remains focused on protecting Fiji’s sovereignty, serving its people and securing the nation’s maritime future.
