Fiji receives $282K medical supplies from India

The Indian Government handed over more than FJD$282,400 worth of medical supplies to Fiji today.

The consignment included Amoxycillin suspension, Trimehoprim suspension, Erythromucin suspension, Paracetamol mixture, Zinc oxide cream, Econazole cream, Nystatin drops, Chloramphenicol eye drops, Chloramphenicol ear drops, Chloramphenicol injections and Vitamin A injections.

In a press statement, the Indian Government donated the items in response to a request from Fiji.

Indian High Commissioner to Fiji, Palaniswamy Karthigeyan handed over the medical consignment to Health Minister Dr Ratu Atonio Lalabalavu.

Mr Karthigeyan highlighted India’s development partnership with Fiji, recalling India’s role as a first responder during Fiji’s times of need – including the recent Covid pandemic and the fight against rising HIV infections in Fiji.

The High Commissioner said the proposed100 bed super specialty hospital in Suva to be established by the Indian Government, would be a major milestone in Fiji and India’s development partnership.
