Delegates at the 78th World Health Assembly have adopted a new resolution aimed at strengthening global health financing, reaffirming international commitment to achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) through people-centred primary healthcare.
The resolution comes at a pivotal time. Many low- and middle-income countries face a health financing emergency, triggered by anticipated reductions in external aid – up to 40% in 2025; and a sharp rise in out-of-pocket healthcare expenses. These pressures, coupled with existing disruptions in health service delivery, are stretching already fragile health systems.
