The Coalition Government has reaffirmed its commitment to financial stability, economic growth, and sustainable development as it prepares for the 2024-2025 national budget. A Donor Round-table Meeting was convened today at the Novotel Convention Centre in Lami Bay, bringing together key development partners to discuss Fiji’s national priorities.

Deputy Prime Minister and Acting Minister for Defence and Veterans Affairs, Biman Prasad, emphasized the importance of collaboration in national development. He highlighted the need for strategic investments in critical sectors such as education, health, infrastructure, and environmental sustainability.

“Our government is committed to standing strong and resilient, ensuring that no Fijian is left behind,” Prasad stated.

He acknowledged Fiji’s post-pandemic economic recovery, noting an estimated 3.8% GDP growth in 2024. By the end of the year, the economy is expected to surpass pre-pandemic levels.

The Coalition Government has outlined key priorities, including restoring financial discipline, rebuilding fiscal buffers, managing public debt, and reorienting economic policies toward sustainable growth.

Prasad described the upcoming budget as a balance between prudent fiscal management and investments to improve the well-being of all Fijians.

He also expressed appreciation for the support of development partners and reaffirmed the government’s dedication to meaningful collaboration.
