After being diagnosed with a brain tumor and losing part of his vision, Joseph William Work – a former prison officer and army personnel – has defied the odds to graduate with a Diploma in Business Management yesterday.
His journey was one of perseverance, filled with obstacles both physical and emotional.
As his name was called at the graduation ceremony, he proved that no limitation could stop determination.
Joseph William Work’s journey from the uniform to the graduation gown wasn’t easy.
He underwent a life-changing surgery in India, faced physical and emotional hurdles, and adapted to life with a disability.
But yesterday, as his name was called at the graduation ceremony, his perseverance spoke louder than any challenge he’s faced.
“Firstly, was my disability to be disabled and just currently just trying to study. For normal person it would be normal, but for a disabled person it’s like double effort. So, everyday I fought these challenges but, in the end, I persevered and I’ve achieved what I strived for” Work mentions.
For his mother, Karolina Vunibaka, it was a moment of pride and reflection – the result of years of unwavering love and support.
“Very, very proud of him today. Achieving a milestone in his education words cannot describe” Vunibaka emphasis.
Work now hopes his story inspires others living with disabilities – or anyone who has ever felt like giving up.
“All I can is believe in yourself first. Secondly, listen also to your family members and those who are supporting you and third is that there’s nothing to be worried about. If there’s a will, there a way” Work highlights.
Work’s achievement stands as a powerful reminder – that with support, belief, and resilience, no dream is ever out of reach.
