Former Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica has elected to have his case heard and determined in the Suva Magistrates Court.
Kamikamica appeared before Magistrate Charles Ratakele this morning, where he confirmed his election as the charges against him are electable offences.
He is charged with one count of perjury, alleging that he falsely stated under oath that he had no involvement in the appointment of former FICAC Commissioner Barbara Malimali.
Kamikamica also faces a charge of giving false information to a public servant in relation to the same statement allegedly made before the Commission of Inquiry into Malimali’s appointment last year.
The matter has been set down for trial from the 20th to the 23rd of next month.
Kamikamica is represented by Senior defence counsel Wylie Clarke.
The case has been adjourned to the 3rd of next month for pre-trial conference.
