The Ministry of Defence, National Security, and Policing together with The Asia Foundation are currently co-hosting a National Referral Mechanism Workshop for Anti-Human Trafficking at the Pearl Resort from 26th -28th July 2022.

Just days after the release of the 2022 United States of America (USA) Department of State (DOS) Annual Trafficking in Person (TIP) Report was released, the National Anti-Human Trafficking Committee together with Civil Society Organisations (CSO) partners was in full attendance to discuss and try to finalise a robust, flexible and fit-for-purpose Referral Mechanism that is envisaged to streamline the referral and management of cases of human trafficking.

The three days workshop was opened on Tuesday 26th July 2022 by the Permanent Secretary for Defence, National Security, and Policing Mr Manasa Lesuma, and set the expected outcomes for the three days meet.

PS Lesuma acknowledged the valuable partnership of all Civil Society Organisations, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), and Faith-Based Organisations (FBOs) together with Government organisations in the national fight against Trafficking in Person. He also acknowledged and welcomed the new partnership forged with The Asia Foundation which has recently returned to Fiji.

The workshop will run until Thursday 28th July 2022.
