Preparation is continuing on the chiefly island of Bau for the hosting of the Great Council of Chiefs on Wednesday.
This morning the delegation from the I-Taukei Affairs Ministry and other key stakeholders are on the island of Bau to finalise the preparation for the GCC meeting.
Minister for I-Taukei Affairs, Ifereimi Vasu has confirmed that Government will spend $286,000 for the meeting
They have received nominations from the 13 provincial councils and three from the Council of Rotuma specifically for the GCC meeting on Bau.
The new GCC membership composition would be recommended by the GCC review team.
The i-Taukei Trust Fund would cover the cost of the two-day meeting with a funding of $189,000, including all logistical costs.
The GCC meeting will be officially opened on Wednesday by President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere.
