Secondary education is now within reach for families in Sawanikula Village, Naitasiri, following the official opening of Naboro Junior Secondary School this week.

The new school has enrolled 30 Year 9 students and is staffed by seven teachers, providing a long-awaited option for students who previously had to travel long distances to continue their education.

Minister for Education, Hon. Aseri Radrodro, officiated at the opening and said the establishment of the school reflects government’s commitment to improving access to education in rural areas.

As part of the support, the Ministry of Education provided 30 desks and chairs along with library materials worth $1,678, in addition to ongoing assistance through the $200 Back-to-School initiative and eTransport cards.

Minister Radrodro told students that education plays a crucial role in addressing social challenges affecting young people and urged them to work hard and aim high.

He also pointed to the success of other rural schools as proof that strong academic performance is achievable regardless of location.

The opening of Naboro Junior Secondary School is being hailed as a major boost for education and community development in the Naitasiri province.
