Residents of Tailevu are set to benefit from improved healthcare services following the official opening of the renovated Nayavu Health Centre.
The upgrade was completed through a FJD$400,000 project funded by the Government of the Republic of Korea and facilitated by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Health Minister Dr. Ratu Atonio Lalabalavu acknowledged the support of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and WHO in delivering the project, describing it as an example of successful international partnership and community-focused development.
The renovation works included an expansion of the General Outpatient Department waiting area to improve comfort for patients, an extension of the emergency observation unit to strengthen the facility’s ability to manage urgent cases, and the refurbishment of the Maternal and Child Health Clinic to provide a safer and more modern environment for mothers and their children.
Health officials say the improvements will enhance service delivery and help meet the healthcare needs of communities served by the facility.
