For families in Narovurovu Settlement and surrounding communities in Vitogo, Lautoka, access to clean water and reliable transport is no longer a daily struggle following the completion of two Government-funded infrastructure projects.
More than 300 residents are now benefiting from the $190,000 Narovurovu Settlement Rural Water Supply Scheme, which delivers a dependable supply of safe drinking water to 320 people.
The community is also celebrating the opening of the new Yaladomo Bridge, a $437,455 project that replaces a low-lying crossing often cut off during heavy rainfall.
The bridge now provides safer and more reliable access for residents of Tikina Vitogo and Tikina Yakete.
Long-time resident Sisilia Lotawa said the projects have brought much-needed relief, noting that the community had relied on river water for decades and often faced travel disruptions during bad weather.
The two projects support the Government’s National Development Plan 2025–2029 and Vision 2050, aimed at improving essential services and quality of life in rural communities.
