A new culinary destination has opened in the heart of Suva, offering locals and visitors alike a fresh taste of France.

Chef Phillippe Café, located on the corner of Selbourne Street in the space formerly occupied by Mana Café, officially opened its doors this week.

Owned and operated by seasoned chef Phillippe Garand and his wife Noellie, the café promises an authentic French experience, serving freshly baked goods daily.

“We are proud to introduce a new taste of France to Suva,” said Garand.

“Everything is baked fresh every day, using quality ingredients and traditional French techniques.”

The opening of Chef Phillippe Café is not only a boost for Suva’s food scene but also for local employment. The café has created eight new jobs, supporting the city’s growing hospitality sector.

Chef Phillippe Café is already drawing attention for its charming atmosphere and dedication to quality, and is expected to become a favorite spot for coffee lovers, pastry enthusiasts, and anyone seeking a European café experience in Fiji’s capital.

Officiating at the opening, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Manoa Kamikamica says, Suva continues to broaden its culinary experience.

“Philippe’s journey from trainee to business owner reflects the purpose of programmes like the Fiji Enterprise Engine,” Kamikamica said.

“When combined with hard work and vision, such opportunities can blossom into enterprises that inspire others.”

Chef Philippe himself is an alumnus of the Fiji Enterprise Engine (FEE), a programme designed to strengthen business skills and support entrepreneurs.
