Fiji Airports invests FJD10 million in outer island pavement maintenance

Fiji Airports is investing FJD10 million in pavement maintenance for five of its thirteen outer island stations namely Labasa, Rotuma, Savusavu, Lakeba, and Matei. FlameTree Development Fiji PTE Ltd has been awarded the project. 

Fiji Airports Chief Executive Officer, Mesake Nawari said the Labasa Airport site will undergo landslip remediation works, in addition to the runway shoulder resealing and fence upgrade works.

Closure timelines are set for minimal disruption. 

“To minimize disruptions, Fiji Airports has planned the project timeline in consultation with stakeholders,” said Nawari.

“Labasa Airport will experience a partial closure from May 6 to June 16, between 10am to 3 pm.

“The Savusavu Airport will undergo a full closure from June 24 to July 14.

Further maintenance is planned, separate from World Bank-funded projects. 

Fiji Airports funds all scheduled maintenance.
