The President, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere stressed that decent work is a fundamental human right that is important for sustainable development at the Pacific Tripartite High-Level Dialogue on Decent Work and 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent.
Technical sessions of the dialogue will focus on various aspects of decent work and social dialogue in the Pacific.
The dialogue is a a platform for participants to address challenges such as fair wages, safe work environments, social security, gender equality and employment growth.
The 2050 Strategy outlines a roadmap for a prosperous, inclusive and environmentally sustainable future for Pacific nations.
Katonivere is urging that there be a reaffirming commitment to fair labour practices and social equity to target a resilient and prosperous Pacific.
He lauded the collective efforts of government, employers and workers representatives in advancing social justice and inclusive growth.
