Culture and Heritage were among the top products at the South Pacific Tourism Exchange 2024, advocated by regional tourism exhibitors.

They say if the world could experience something unique in the Pacific, it would be their way of life, apart from the beautiful white sandy beaches.

Culture plays a crucial role in the Pacific islands society.

This is the message regional tourism exhibitors hope to exchange with international buyers at the South Pacific Tourism exchange 2024.

“I think in the Paicific, it is natural for us to welcome people”, Iloai Emanuele, Manager Wallis & Futuna Transport Agent said.

Senior Marketing Officer – PNG Tourism Promotion Authority, Simon Dari Pih says, they have cultural festivals beginning in June.

“If people are interested in coming to PNG, our cultural festival ends until August, and this is something we promote to visitors”, Pih said.

Vanuatu Tourism Office is promoting their Bungee Jumping custom at the Exchange, hoping the unique cultures of their 83 islands are promoted to the world.

“What we hope for them to get at the end of this event is potentially to do some contracts, some new ideas, inspire them to visit Vanuatu, and give them trust to the destination”, Louisa Tufale of the Vanuatu Tourism Office, said.

A new-comer into the regional exchange, Samoa Holidays and Events says the Pacific shares a common goal.

“I think we all have the same goals. We’re trying to expose our cultures, and the beauty of our land to people all around the world, and it is a good experience to be here”, Junior Levy of Samoa Holidays & Events, said.

The South Pacific Tourism Exchange 2024 welcomed close to 70 international buyers this year, and promises to increase this next year.
