40 Fijian women graduate as peace lecturers

Fourty Fijians graduated from the 2nd Peace Lecturer Training Education (PLTE) program run by the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) from Korea.

IWPG Regional Director Seonhee Jang said the 2nd Fiji Peace Lecturer Training Education was conducted via Zoom.

“This graduation ceremony is not the end, but a new beginning,” she said.

“I hope we can work together for peace as peace lecturers, peace directors, and peace committee members.

“Thanks to the graduates, the flower of peace will bloom in Fiji in the future.”

Ms Jang said four graduates took on the role of servants of peace in Fiji, were appointed as peace committee chairs and formed peace committees in Suva, Lautoka and Labasa.

Eta Reqeti, a graduate of the 1st PLTE in Fiji last year said she was engaged in peace activities with IWPG as a peace lecturer in 2023, and was now appointed as a representative of the peace committee.

“I am very grateful, and I will do my best to spread IWPG’s peace education and peace to the entire region and the whole nation of Fiji,” she said.

“Peace Education will become the one of the essential peace initiatives of spreading culture of.”

Another graduate, Nina Buresova Naivalu, said “Peace education is very important for women because when a man receives education, a family is educated, and when a woman receives education, a generation is educated.”

“I am grateful to IWPG for teaching me how to calmly resolve conflicts before they escalate.”
