A learning centre to support the education of the poorest children will be established in Tovata, thanks to a partnership between the Foundation for the Education of Needy Children (FENC Fiji) and Tovata Methodist Church.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between FENC Fiji and Tovata Methodist Church marks the continuation of a collaboration aimed at providing educational support to students from poverty stricken families.

The church will provide the venue for the learning centre’s flagship activities, offering extra tutorials and after-school support to local students from 3pm to 7pm, while FENC Fiji will provide facilitators and resources for the learning centres.

Scheduled to commence operations in April 2024, the Learning Centre will run until early November 2024, providing a nurturing and conducive environment for children to enhance their learning and academic potential.

FENC Fiji said it is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of these vulnerable students by offering educational resources, mentorship, and support essential to their growth and development.

“We are thrilled to partner with Tovata Methodist Church to establish this Learning Centre that will serve as a beacon of hope for underprivileged children in our community,” said Nirmala Nambiar, Head of Operations at FENC Fiji.

“Through this collaboration, we aim to empower these students with the tools and resources they need to excel academically and unlock their full potential.”

This initiative reflects FENC Fiji’s ongoing commitment to creating inclusive educational opportunities for children in need and fostering a supportive community environment for their holistic growth.
