Fiji National University has announced that all its campuses across the country will remain closed on Wednesday, 8 April 2026, as Tropical Cyclone Vaianu, currently at Category 3 intensity, continues to pose risks.
The decision was made following the latest updates from the Fiji Meteorological Service and the National Disaster Management Office, in consultation with the university’s Emergency Response Team.
Academic staff have been instructed to stay in close contact with students to coordinate classes and alternative learning arrangements.
Meanwhile, all university staff are required to work remotely and remain in communication with their supervisors.
Students and staff are being urged to take necessary safety precautions and closely monitor official weather advisories.
Those living in low-lying or flood-prone areas are advised to stay vigilant, move to safer locations if needed, and remain informed about evacuation centres and emergency procedures.
