New Zealand Army Chief: Calls for a stronger military cooperation with RFMF

Major General John Boswell recently visited Fiji for a set of collective meetings with military officials, which includes the Commander RFMF, Major General Jone Kalouniwai.

It was during his visit that Major General Boswell reiterated on the importance of strengthening military cooperation between New Zealand and Fiji. The discussions that took place focused on areas of mutual interest, such as joint training exercises , disaster response coordination, and regional security challenges.

They both expressed a commitment to working towards a common goal of enhancing the defense capabilities of their respective countries and collectively contributing to the peace and stability of the Pacific region.

Major General Boswell’s visit to Fiji also coincided with the ANZAC Day commemoration that happened this morning, a significant event that honors the sacrifices of Australian and New Zealand military personnel, alongside their Fijian counterparts.

His presence at the commemoration showcases the strong historical ties between the countries and their commitment to upholding the values of service and sacrifice.

Major General Boswell prepares to retire form the military service in the coming weeks, so his visit to the country emphasizes maintaining strong relationships and partnerships in the defense sector.

It was also an opportunity for Major General Kalouniwai to brief the NZ Chief of army on the development of the RFMF and how its developing the capabilities in moving towards modernizing the force.
