Attorney General Siromi Turaga invited Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Professor Biman Prasad to visit corrections centres to see first-hand the infrastructure issues they were facing.

He sent the vocal invite in Parliament this week while speaking on the Consolidated Review Report on the Fiji Corrections Service’s 2018-2020 Annual Reports.

While  thanking members of the Standing Committee for the detailed report, the AG said he noted the observations, findings and five recommendations.

“I do note, that they said that majority of the issues identified in the review have been adequately addressed,” Mr Turaga said.

“As you are probably aware, most of these issues are infringes in terms of finance budgetary allocation.

“I have been trying to impress upon the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance.

“I would like to invite him to visit the Corrections Centres and see firsthand what it is like.

“Only then one can understand because in terms of the needs, infrastructure, et cetera, it will depend on the funding.”
