Netherlands Ambassador to Fiji, Adrianus M.M. van der Vorst, hosted the first commemoration of Netherlands National Day in Fiji at the Paradiso Restaurant & Bar, celebrating King’s Day strengthening and also highlighting the relationship between the two countries.
King’s Day, observed annually in Netherlands, honours King Willem-Alexander’s birthday and unites Dutch communities globally.
The Ambassador highlighted collaboration areas, including water resilience and sports, praising Fiji’s expertise in nature-based solutions and expressing interest in promoting women’s sports participation.
He emphasised joint efforts in addressing global challenges like climate change and commended Fiji’s support for Ukraine amid Russian aggression.
Plans were announced to strengthen Netherlands’ ties with the Pacific, with optimism about future cooperation and positive changes for both nations’ communities.
